And I figured, really, there should only be One thing on this list:
EAT CHOCOLATE. (Or lollies, or any variation therefrom - and this also includes the process of going to the place of purchase - be it vending machine, supermarket, or friendly "Women's Auxiliary" in your local hospital - that third one, for anyone who's never been to Charlies hospital is gun - you get $1 bags of mixed lollies that come in a paper brown bag - just like primary school).
Now, sometimes you find something new to eat, and it can be quite exciting: (Trust me on this one)
So many good things about this:
- Chocolate
- Your good old Tim Tams,
- but this time Strawberry flavoured inside.
- Its supporting Pink Ribbon Day, for Breast Cancer Awareness. (23rd October, btw).
And the best thing:
-its PINK
-you can look stylish while your packing on the pounds.
(although in this case - its great, coz its so new, all your friends at the library will want a taste - so not only do you get to share the love - but you dont scoff your face).

NBL on FTA
Ive got some HUGE news for basketball fans (and former fans) out there. - The one marketing move that everyone has been waiting for:
The NBL (National Basketball League - for those too young to remember when it was relevent) have come to an agreement with Channel 9 - and the result will be a One Hour- Weekly Highlights Show:
Sundays 11:30am. (starting on the 15th of October)
I urge everyone with just an ounce of interest in the sport to follow it - an especially those of us in Perth - coz the Wildcats are back on top of the ladder: 4-0.
(Im sure you remember names like Ricky Grace, Andrew Vlahov, and James Crawford.)
I garauntee that you'll get hooked back onto the NBL - Or YOUR MONEY BACK (Oh wait a minute - its FREE to air televesion).
Its only the beginning - but hopefully in 1-2 years the basketball will really be competing with the Cricket in terms of popularity. (And Crickets a day-time game)
ps. I thought I was jumping the gun - but just as I was typing this, the NBL Officially Announced the move. But you know Ive gotta be excited to be posting at 7 in the morning.

Cidade de Deus
Just finished watching "City of God" on SBS.I'd heard heaps of good things about this movie but had never gotten around to seeing it. And although I saw what would've been a censored version, its SBS so I reckon they wouldve been pretty sensible to keep from cutting out important parts of the movie.
Basically its about a group of kids who grow up in this particular slum of Brazil: "City of God" and what they had to go through, and one particular kid "Rocket" and his efforts to distance himself from whats going on.
I wont say anything else about the movie except that:
-It was based on a true story (as it mentions before the credits) - but not using the term based loosely (like is often seen) - but the fact that all of these gangs (including the Runts), and all the main characters were real people and this is what actually happened.
-Even more astounding - many of the actors (including the guy playing Rocket) are from "City of God" and some had actually been members of one of the gangs. (Have a look at the IMDB trivia - its pretty fascinating).
Oh - and when the guy Benny goes blonde - he looks absolutely hot. (I cant find a picture on google - so you'll have to see the movie) - as was Angleique.
"One of the best films you'll ever see" - I'd have to agree with that review.

library computers should die
This post is purely for my frustrationary release mechanisms. (yes I made up a word - Im allowed to)
For once I had been systematic with my study.
I had been typing out detailed notes to a text-book called Talley & O'Connor (Only the most important textbook for being a doctor in Australia- ask anyone)
I'd gotten through 3-and a half chapters (of about 10 that I need to go through) which converted to about 15 pages of notes in Word.
Due to my inability to study at home - I do all this in the library - and I had done some work on it last night and saved it onto my trusty USB called Larry. (LG)
Now, Larry has been a trusty servant since I got him on sale at Harvey Norman - and I have never had any relationship issues with Larry, so I figure he's all the back-up I need. When things are going well with larry, theres no need to unload my thoughts onto my laptop Toby (Toshiba) - I became complacement, and had no other copy of this particular peice of work.
But today - the evil Library computer (lets called her "The Evil Witch From Neverending Story" - from memory, as a kid I thought she was the most evillest witch of them all) decides to corrupt Larry.
But TEWFNS is smart - she doesnt corrupt all of Larry. She uses stealth and goes straight to the one thing I desperately needed from Larry at this time - and just like that, with one twitch of her nose, she wastes a good 12+ hours of work.
And, as every Fable from Aesop must end, here is the moral:
BACKUP YOUR WORK PEOPLE.
ps. I need to cry..... or break a door

One Album Wonders
We've all heard about One Hit Wonders - have a look at your iTunes list (or your chosen mp3 playing format) and Im sure its full of them.
Instead, Im more interested in One Album Wonders (OAWs). Artists who jump onto the scene, have a few hits, and then just dissappear.
Whereas One Hit Wonders often just need a bit of luck, and its often quite predictible after their hit that they will just dissappear, these OAWs usually have a bit of talent and potential but never repeat the success of their first album.
The main current artist who I think will fit this bill is James Blunt. The guy exploded onto the scene, had at least 3 huge hits off this album, but really, who wouldnt be suprised if we never hear from him again?
And obviously Jeff Buckley has to be excused from this list.
But I thinks theres a few bands/artists who I consider fit this list: (This is based on my limited music knowledge. Im sure many of them have been succesful after their 1 album, I just dont recall them getting back on the mainstream music scene - and im only taking like 5 minutes with this list)

honesty - honestly

I dont think too many people would disagree what that - how can you really have anything thats lastingly fruitful without honesty, and without the trust that comes from it. (And a big part of this is about being truthful to yourself - about actually admitting your faults to yourself and the changes you need to make)
"Honesty is the best policy" - we've all probably heard that a hundered times.
So - why is it so difficult a lot of the time?
(look - I'm not talking about not having Tact, which I think most people would agree I tend to ignore more than most... coz thats a whole other issue).
And Im not talking about judging people, or criticizing them for just doing the wrong thing by you.
But, look back at the times in your lives when someone has been honest with you. Whether they are tactful, frank or just flat out brutal. The truth sometimes hurts, but I just think that these disruptions in the status quo (or equilibrium if you will) are some of the defining moments in our lives.
Why did I write all this - I dunno, just figured that my blog had been pretty empty recently so I just put down a few thoughts.

Black-Hawk Down
A good movie - watched it last night on TV.
A few comments:
1. Has there ever been more people putting on accents? (Obviously excluding period pieces). And its not like Eric Bana, Ewan McGregor and Orlando Bloom arent well known actors. The funny thing is, I could easily accept Eric Banas accent, but not the other two. Ewan McGregor should never try an accent- just let him sing his words next time.
2. The funny thing is I recognised just about every american actor in that movie. (Im not really a huge movie buff - so more than anything it just means that they filled all the bit roles with tv/
B-grade guys).
3. What ever happened to Josh Hartnett? Ok, Pearl Harbour and "O" (Othello) were crap movies, but from those, this and his bit part in Sin City - I thought he would become one of the top actors of his day. I had a look at his IMDB profile - and the only movie of his since "40 Days, 40 nights" that Ive heard of has been Wicker Park - and I dont recall hearing anything great about that movie. (Obviously, Im not talking about Sin City which was made in 2005, coz he only had a 5 minute role in that).
4. The guy who plays Lucious Malfoy was in it playing one of the Captains. (The bald guy who gets pissed off at them for killing the water buffallo, and then walks in on the guy making fun of him... for those playing at home). Anyway, I spent the whole movie trying to figure out where I knew him from (it wasnt as obvious as the rest, see Point 2), and needed IMDB at the end to realise that he was Lucious.
The whole point of this? Hurry up JK Rowlings- I need my hit of Harry, (as opposed to "charlie").
